About to possibly take on a project and I'm seeking a few suggestions and a bit of advice. After a long and fruitless search we may have a block to start building on. It has it's share of challenges though, the big one's: an existing a-frame building and great south facing views with limited potential for north facing bits. Limited but not none.
I'm thinking of basically cutting a hole in one side of the a-frame a building a big rectangle straw bale extension with lots of glass on both the north and south sides (north to a courtyard for the solar gains onto a slab. Doors both sides for vetilation. It may work to go to two stories and "hang" the bedrooms like a Frank Lloyd Wright design.
