We always wanted to build our own mud house and the following photos show how we did it. The frame is heavy gauge steel from a commercial building, which was dismantled in Brisbane. The walls we made of Cob and Mudbrick - exactly the same material, just laid differently. This was a 99% owner builder project, using 99% recycled materials. The project took the two of us 7 years.

Can't post all the pics, so check this web site - Thanks - Kate

Kate & Allan,
What a wonderful house - I really love the fact you have huge boulders inside the building and the stairs to the bathroom is brilliant! And that huge wave roof in the construction pix looked spectacular just after it was gyprocked (or whatever material you used.)
Here's a house that's taken your idea and run with it!! (It looks like it has an impacted wisdom tooth....)

Allan and Kate,

The photos are great. A real visionary piece of work. Most people wouldn't touch a site like that and thankfully there are people like you guys who can see beyond a level quarter acre block with all of the services.

Thanks for the inspiration. :)

Impressive imagination in action. You used your surroundings creatively.
Looks like a lot of hard work paid off. Well done.
