We purchased a 5 acre block in Manjimup WA Jan 2008.
We are currently living in Broome WA and are planning to retire in Manjimup WA.
We have sofar brought power to site, built a 16 x8 metre shed, connected to a 90000 litre water tank. We have started planting local native trees and a small mixed orchard.
I have my owner builders permit and now have an approved house plan.
I am about halfway through a budget and am very interested in some of the tips etc that I have read.
We have had several houses built for us in the past , but this already is the most satisfying.
I know it won't be easy.
Will post photos as we progress.

Next time you are in the area call in and say hello to my Dad (Norm Fountain). As you leave Palgorup heading towards Manjimup the first road on the left is Balburup. Dad's place is the second house along:

I designed it, Dad built it, mostly on his own. He is in his 70's. I am sure he can give you plenty of tips and recommend local tradesmen.

Thanks for the offer Bruce . We will be down to build the house pad and dam in September , so will call on your dad for some tips.
We have had 14 years in Broome and can't wait to live in the Southwest.
Regards Tony and Pat
