Hi All
Well where have we been what have we done? I can't believe it has been since September that I've posted.

We now have a loo with-a-view, we made our own composting toilet and had to give it a room. We were originally going to just put in 1 window but it called for 2 because of the nice view it had and it works well. Kevin built the outside and did such a great job of it looks great.

We have now filled any hole we can with perspex, windows, silica anything to stop the winter chills. It has been a chilly winter this one but we'll survive. We've put up our bedroom wall so that helps keep inside warm I suppose with the fireplace in the corner it has become toasty. We have 140 outdoor 30x30 pavers to go down on the floor in the sunken lounge, we will seal them and they are rustic enough to fit in quite well.

The fruit trees are growing and we have a few varieties. We are in the middle of the Sub-Tropical and Cool areas so we can get quite a few different things to plant in the fruit and vegie stakes and also the fruit trees. I so look forward to the time when we can go out and pick the Jaboticaba fruit and Grumichama and live off our land.

We are venturing toward the permanent move it is all in motion now and should be hopefully within the next few months. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to that. We are getting a tractor with a front end loader, because the rocks are back breakers and what starts as a little point can at times end up as a monster under the surface. Then we can maintain our driveway and build the dams up more. It will come in handy for a lot of things and with a slasher on the back we'll make short work of the areas that are too big for me to scythe.

I started this blog this morning and have only just got the chance to get back to it, so I shall sign off now and add more in the very near future. Hi to all that have been thinking about us and BingoShelly your place looks great. keep it up girl your dreams becoming the reality you wanted.

Until next time soon

Hi So happy to be back I have been unable to get in to the site so I have had to watch from afar.

Bluey OMG what you have done, you have inspired us to make our shed for the tractor out of rammed earth. I have shown so many people your blog and they are fascinated by the whole concept and technique of building with earth. I must admit though, you do make it look so easy, but we know there is a lot of things you don't show us and without a bobcat or the like it would be bloody back breaking work that most people would throw the towel in on after 20 barrow loads in a day, thats if they made it to 20 barrow loads.

Bingoshelley - masterpiece girl, i've watched your trials and tribulations and you should be proud of what you have achieved. You must be enjoying living in your new home.

Hill House - Steve J - LOOOOOVE IT we'd have a view like that too if we harvest the trees, but we won't so, I imagine we have that sort of view from our plateau. In years to come the trees will have grown up so we can see under them. It's good to see it's a joint effort and you have mates you can rely on to give you a hand when you need one. Well done. I look forward to the next phase of the build and no doubt it won't be far off. I was even looking at your windows you had for sale, but we scored another heap of doors and windows gratis from the scab grab I mean curb side pick-up.

We have done loads more to the house, but unfortunately we haven't been able to move down there full time yet. we are working on that now. Circumstance sometimes can be a real pain in the roadway of life and chuck a roadblock at you. Nothing we can't overcome and finally make our dream a reality. I've notice the house in the city is so much louder these days with all the diverted traffic trying to avoid all the toll roads they are putting in. Brisvegas is no longer the sleepy little town she once was, she's loud dirty and becoming like all the rest unfortunately, where nobody knows their neighbour and there is no-one to rely on if you need a hand. The January floods didn't help, we were very lucky to have stayed high and dry, although our area did flood in 74. i never thought I would be grateful to a sand mine but that is what saved us from certain inundation, they have a 5Mtr levee and the water from Oxley Creek comes through there and being with NRMA Qld doesn't get covered for flood, although my policy states I have flood cover.

This flood was very different to 74, it seemed to spread in a lot of areas that didn't go under before and areas that went under in 74 didn't get any this time. i suppose the change in the layouts of the city and the creeks and waterways busways tunnells would have something to do with that but no matter how you look at it, it happened and lets hope it never happens again like that.

I have to make this one short and sweet but shall continue shortly.

Until next time

Lovely to hear from you and glad to hear you are steadily progressing towards the move. Life does get in the way at times, I know that from my own adventures, keep going you'll get there :-) You are so lucky with the floods to be spared the pain of it all, it must have been awful for so many people. Keep us posted, a few pics of any progress??

Steve

Inez and Kevin,
Good to hear from you again. I am so pleased to hear that my project has inspired someone else to try rammed earth. I would love to see a pic of your tractor shed.

I hope the 'long sought after' move happens soon for you.
Bluey.
