Gidday All, I am preparing my D.A. for council for my owner build Straw Bale home, My question is what are the requirements for roof truss plans for Council D.A. My truss manufacturer cannot supply computations until the trusses are manufactured and council certificate created, obviouslly I don't want to pay/order trusses until D.A. approved and I know at what time I will actually be needing them. I do have a simple layout plan from truss manufacturer with not for construction purposes written on it.

I am sure that requirements differ between the states but you shouldn't need roof framing specs for DA. The DA approval looks at planning checks - setbacks, heights, privacy etc. Things like external materials and colours can be important.

Engineering details are required for the building licence. If I were drawing the section I would show something that looked roughly like a truss and add a note "engineered roof truss framing to manufacturer's specification". You may not even need a section for DA.
