I'm trying to make decisions about windows for a new house, and 2 options I'm considering are: getting a joinery to make timber windows, or using Stegbar's composite "Siteline" windows (with Auralast treated pine on the inside, coated with aluminium on the outside). Most of the windows have to comply with BAL 29.
1. Where can I get FSC certified (or second-hand) Silvertop Ash (Eucalyptus sieberi) suitable for making windows? (I'm in central Victoria.)
2. What is Stegbar's AuraLast made of? Are there any harmful effects of its use in windows? How can I get an MSDS of it? The rep says there isn't one, but I found a pdf on a website (bcfii.ca) with links to Stegbar's US parent company Jeld-wen, that says an MSDS is available. Jeld-wen's US website is set up to only receive emails from the US or Canada.
